A mouse... from Verbatim??? The last time I really looked at these guys, they were making floppy disks, CD-R's, and other media. I see now that they sell all kinds of other goodies. If the quality of those is anything like this mouse, they're definitely worth a try.
I started out as a typical user: pull the mouse out of the box, plug it in, and go. With this method, I was up and running in less than 5 minutes without having to install any drivers or anything (I'm still running Win XP SP3). I've used Apple, Targus, Logitech and MoGo wireless mice and this one installs as easily as any of the others. The MoGo one lives in my laptop's PCMCIA slot as an 'emergency' mouse, and it works well enough in that capacity, but the precision of the Verbatim mouse is so much better for everyday use -- the Bluetooth in my laptop tends to be a little flaky, so any BT mice tend to jitter a bit. This one links up with its tiny receiver immediately upon powering on and there is no jitter.
This mouse works on my coffee and dining room tables, both of which have a woodgrain texture that seems to confuse a lot of laser mice. The nano receiver is pretty tiny and I'll probably leave it installed all the time, although the convenient storage slot inside the mouse itself gives me an option. In fact, I may end up using this mouse as a replacement for my old corded mouse attached to the dock at my desk.
I find that using the mouse in the collapsed mode is a little odd, but collapsing it is both nice for stowing in my bag and for keeping the receiver contained. Note that there are height TWO modes, not a varying height adjustment: the mouse is either fully expanded or fully collapsed.
The scroll wheel is sturdy and works well -- it doesn't freewheel and the tactile feedback makes it easy to control the amount of scrolling that I want to do. The on/off switch on the mouse itself is a nice touch, and there is apparently a sleep mode that would prevent battery drain in the event that I left it on. One small complaint is that there is no light to let me know that I have left it on -- not a big problem, since that would constantly consume battery power.
I am not big on software installs to support simple peripherals, but I installed the software to see what I would get. It basically lets you assign an action to clicking the scroll wheel. All I can say about it is that it uninstalls cleanly. |
Great Mouse

I've been using this for a few weeks now and it's been working really well. Very easy to use plug and play design. I didn't bother with the softwear as it didn't seem like it was needed.
A few nice features were the hidden compartment for the little usb laptop plug. This is a great feature so that you don't lose it when you're traveling with your laptop. I also like that you can change the height of the mouse so it gives you a few options.
Overall it's a nice wireless mouse |

| This is a great mobile mouse device. It has smooth movement and comfortable feel. The USB device can be stored in the mouse, however it is so small that I leave it in my laptop. There is also a on/off switch. I would recommend this highly. |
Easy set-up & feels good.

I'm running Windows 7 on a Gateway laptop. Set-up was very easy. Install the batteries and insert the USB dongle. Within 2 minutes Windows 7 had the mouse operational. I didn't even need to run the included CD software.
The mouse is just the right size. I like that I can make it slightly bigger. With big hands adding the little bit of height helps. Plus there's a secret storage compartment for the USB dongle. Although the dongle is so small you can leave it plugged in like I do. There's also a nifty on/off switch on the bottom to conserve batteries.
For those of use prefer a mouse instead of a track pad this mouse is a godsend. Small, lightweight, no wires, and super easy set-up. |
Zippy little wireless mouse is AWESOME!

Verbatim's wireless mouse has a small flip up backside that both adds height if wanted and a hiding place for the wireless transceiver which you'll plug into your apple, PC or 'puter. I'm currently using it on my Apple workstation at work because the SPEED is terrifyingly great and the versatility adds functions that you select. There are a couple of snazzier models that recharge, etc., etc., but so far, long battery life and a welcomed change over for my Macbook Pro's little touchpad.
for the buck (watch for deals) you can add far more mouse speed than your laptop thought it could handle. Scroll fast, do your work and btw, consider a few tricks you'd like to do while scrolling news on the web. I've zip-scrolled headlines plopped them into a separate doc and can come back as time permits w/out the internet screen open all of the time. FASTER THAN YOU'D BELIEVE! I tried going back to a wired mouse at work; No way. Verbatim's wireless mouse is CRAZY fast and programmable. I'l never go back to anything else: This puppy, although you program the speed back, of course, is freakin' greatness!!! |
